Roller Base Manufacture

Cylinder Bases

For printing & packaging trades including Air Mandrels, Flexographic, Gravure, Anilox, Rubber, Heat transfer rollers and embossing.

Body

Made from heavy wall V750 grade hollow bar, stress relieved if application requires long term and temperature stability or 6000 series aluminium for use in weight saving designs.

Shafts

Made from 1045 grade steel and shrunk into internally machined body then MIG welded.

Bearing journals

Can be flame hardened if required, or hardened sleeve fitted.

Balance

All cylinders are internally machined to ensure perfect concentricity and vibration free operation. High speed rollers are dynamically balanced if specified.

Surface Finish

Print and other rollers requiring fine finish are ground all over, body and journals to ensure concentricity. Rollers that have bonded or additional surface treatments are medium turn finished to provide a key. Journals are ground between centres.

Print & Anilox Gears

Gear blanks are manufactured form cast iron, steel, plastic and other composite material in one operation to guarantee concentricity. This allows our gear cutters to finish the gears to the highest precision resulting in problem free operation. Both spur and helical gear types can be catered for.

Roller Repair

Repairing damaged rollers can be a challenge. Not only does the damage need repairing but the roller surface and running precision must still meet OEM specification and any surface coatings must not be damaged. Linprint has developed techniques that allow rollers to be returned to operation with the minimum of down time. We are experienced in straightening bent shafts, repairing damaged or undersize bearing journals, recutting keyways, reducing roller size etc.

Roller Modification

Roller modification is possible in some circumstances. The simplest is a reduction in roller diameter and the more complex may result in a new shaft configuration for operation in a different press. If possible this may be more cost effective when comparing with new roller manufacture.
